The Esterlands has known chaos and war for many years. The nations were divided and relationships were tenuous. That was, until the dragon Thal'moniir, the Undying came to roost in the lands. The realm came together to fight against the great beast, and the tyranny it pressed upon the people. Two heroes rose up against the beast, Solomon Thorne and St. Alabaster. The pair of friends came together, raising armies and united the realm against the dragon. St. Alabaster lost his life to defeat the Dragon, and was canonised for it.

Solomon Thorne went on to establish the Highcourt, and declared himself Highking. Despite resistance from many of the peoples of the Esterlands, unity was seen as necessary to protect themselves from any future threats. Cabernath, the kingdom to the south, was most resistant to the ideals of the Highking, and fought ruthlessly against the would-be king. They would eventually fall, as would any who stood against the United Realm.

Now, 50 years later, peace is the way of the land. Monsters are still common; ocean horrors from the Frost Sea, winged beasts from the Hammerlands, and the violent monsters that emerge from the Dreaded Ulfnaar keep the Realm on guard.

A boon of unity, however, has been the rapid sharing of ideals and technology across the United Realm. Coinage and the Guilds of the Commonwealth, steel forges and mastercraft ships from Svel, the battle tactics of the Kingdom of Valantis, the magic prowess of the Magic Fields of Gol... the peoples of the United Realm have had many improvements to their lives in a short period of time.

You are one such team of Adventurers. You have been travelling together for a while now, you have all saved up enough money to afford a guild hall in Telmuir, one of the largest cities in Elduran. You can afford an official Guild Writ from the Guild Masters, and can now take on much more rewarding (and dangerous) jobs
