Chapter 6: The Living Sky

Scion greets us all for breakfast and tells us he’s going to get rid of our curse

Mendelian Islands - learn things Scion cannot tell us about his plan

Thalmanir dying is part of his plan

We teleport to the Commonwealth, Grandpont

We get to the manor Ashe’s mom, Saoirse, works at

Info we gather:

Parthas - the island that Saoirse grew up on

She dropped the scale in the ocean by accident when she was little

She ran away from her home, and stole a relic which she sold upon arriving in Grand Pont

If we track down the statue, we have a path to Parthas

At the pawn shop, who comes in, but Diego Garabaldi! He apologizes to Ashe and says he’s a changed person

He also says the statue is the prize for a feats of strength at his father’s birthday festival

We play a bunch of fair games and win a bunch tickets

Vincent Garabaldi addresses the crowd, and SHOCKER offers the mob tons of gold for she’s head

Chapter 5: Caer Eldur

Day 1 (loop 3)

Going to Alabaster’s tomb to get more info from Hera

Leave her tied up and questioned

She is a special cultist and one of the few who knows Thorne’s true identity

She was syphoning energy that builds up over the year from Alabaster and giving it to Thorne

They’re making Thorne a new body for Thalmanir to inhabit in the mountain

The silver dragon under the town is Thalmanir’s consort who he’s sired 12 children with (Thorne’s Dragon Guard)

Thank you for the info as we drop her in the river (she killed us first)

We head to confront the dragon

ROLL INITIATIVE 

We are victorious! Hire Adventurers to deal with her in subsequent loops


We head home, sleep, and head to Caer Eldur to inquire about the weapon Moore has commissioned

Invoice was for bracelets that let you retain your memory, across loops.. And Moore already has them

We realize Moore’s probably channeling the souls into a giant Dragon Warforged in the mountain

Day 1 (loop 2)

We head to the Rat’s Den

Try to talk or way in, panic, and go on the offensive

We lay down the law, and defeat the first floor of enemies (we intercept letter regarding the fire in the market place to steal the soul sand)
We head down the stairs and also wreck the place

We find a letter to prove her future father-in-law was in on the kidnapping
We find Charlotte and bring her home
We don’t turn into assassins for hire gold star

We secure a morning audience with the Emperor 

Set out to find an Inn in the Enclave District

We get audience with the emperor

He turns into the the Dragon, Thal'moniir! Omfg

Plan for Loop 3:

  • We could talk to the heirophant

  • Sir Frog and his dragon slaying people coop

  • Moore’s weapon

  • Figure out what the cult is up to in the mountain

We take a beat and go monster hunting so we get some cool items

Our Loop 2 plan:

  • Confront Thresh for Charlotte at Rat’s Den

  • Get an audience with Thorne 

  • See what starts the fire in the market

  • Learn about Moore’s magic item



Recap (from loop 1)

Day 1:

  • Charlotte with Thresh - about to be moved to the prison

  • Fire at the market at the Gate

  • Guards sends off Charlotte for processing

  • Thorne takes ill

  • Moore’s magic item is picked up from shop

  • Annabel gets baited by Louis to meet with Thresh for her daughter

  • Council Meeting takes place, Thorne collapses

Day 5:

  • Rituals are happening at Mt. Bardoon

  • Mazy gets arrested 

Day 6:

  • Sword of Aion has taken city, The Hierophant has claimed power

Day 7:

  • Thamlanir torches the world

We shake down one of the cultist archers who tells us:

  • He’s just here as a job, he’s not a zealot

  • they source their victims from different places

  • Prisoners are fully drained (current batch)

  • Sapphire club gets a few years syphoned off and are unconscious and unaware

  • (missed the third)

  • Zealots are almost fully drained then sent to the gallows (???) so that people think the cult is weak

  • Tells us he was once part of a noble house under the dragon. His house wasn’t particularly loyal to the dragon and so when the dragon fell, his family was striped of their titles and riches - while houses loyal to the dragon were allowed to keep their status..? That doesn’t add up


We get lead out of the caves and head to the Gold District after taking a short rest

We see that the city is on lock down on the order of the Hierophant and Emperor (another coup???) Walden Lourdes is claiming rule with the Swords of Aeon

We decide to scale the wall of the city to sneak into the Gold District. We scale it good, and suck getting down. We roll bad, we have 2 points of exhaustion (-4 to all d20s)

Off to get home to Mazy

Bitterman is flustered - Mazy hasn’t returned from her political recon (uh oh)

We long rest (now at -2 for d20s and -5ft movement)


We head to the enclave district - insert tavern name

“Hey what happened here with the regime change?”
We heist into the church to find mazy success! 

She tells us: moore and the council weren’t involved but the lord of walls was playing both sides

We bust her out and sneak out of Saint Dumas cathedral

Morning of day 7 we hear a horrible roar, and explosion, and dragon nukes everything as he bellows for Alabaster 

LOOP!

We enter the room. Baddies mention “soul-sand, only at 35% efficiency” and a few other things. They were about to summon a golem

We talk our way out of the room, only to walk back in, shut the door, and get rid of everyone (besides the kobold).

Bim, the kobold helps us out by mopping the summoning circle off the floor. 

Bim gives us soul crystals

We continue down the hall, and enter into a kitchen with a cultist reading a romance novel, and Kobolds doing all the work

We beat the cultist to a pulp, loot their keys, and continue on

We lock the doors to rooms that have people inside, and start a fight with the cultists in the main room with the ritual

Afternoon on the 5th day in the Jocelyn House

We set out to find our way into the caves - scale a wall and swim

Overhear a couple voices from inside the cave talking about a magical ritual before they are shhh’d for being too loud

We bell-swap with the scout, and dispose of him. We continue down the cave

Rock gives way to marble, this turns into a temple. We can feel the heat from inside

We find a Kobold chained in a room working and immediately fall in love. Save the bean.

Kobo points us to a vent to spy on the “Overseer”. We follow the vent, and end up in the office of Quintus Moore

We find a receipt for a magical item - what is it?? Also found a book with a ritual that turns people into magical essence to send up towards the dragon.

We continue through the halls. Break into the barracks and steal some clothes (unsuccessfully - this took like 45 minutes)

One open room held a bunch of the prisoners, and cultists starting a ritual, another had cultists working with crystals, potentially doing research? We’ll probably get into a fight..

Hanging out with the frog at breakfast

  • He overhears a hushed conversation between ovates (Ovates Francis mentioning emperors weakened health and that there was a plot for the church to take advantage of the situation)

  • Runs away after getting noticed, gets captured

Mazie learns the council of Lords was established by Emperor Thorne

Lord of Walls and Lord of War are appointed

Lord of Magic is whoever the head of the university is (currently Moore)

Lord of Faith is recommended by the church and approved by the emperor (vacant for the last couple of years)

The Emperor and the council don’t see eye-to-eye

Sir Frog reveals his quest is to restore the rightful heir to the throne of Volantis. The true heir played a huge role in defeating Thalmanir, and he and his order of frog-knights seek to crown the true heir’s descendant - Adelyn something-or-other

The throne of Volantis is currently being occupied by a dragon-supplanted monarch

Volantis has a dragon killing spear that we should probably go get

We get a note ransom note that Annabelle (Charlotte's mom) received and there will be an exchange of prisoners tonight at the Cliffrat

We send Mazie to scout out the path to the mountain

We head to The Sapphire Club in the Tower District

  • Ask about bank/council members/allegiances

  • Genesis and Indigo get info on the council - everyone just assumes Quintus Moore is inheriting the throne. He’s powerful, has allies, and he’s been filling the power vacuum. Vibes are “change needs to happen”

  • Edith and Ashe pick up the Arburoughs are powerful, and the Fairmonts are in a bad way and their bank is failing (has already failed) Louis, the father is a failure of a banker (Thorne also to blame)

We plan recon mission at Cliffrat

  • Edith eavesdrops on Louis and Annabelle

  • Weird that Louis is here and he’s so insistent on giving Thresh the ransome (are they in kahoots??)

  • Things go south - it was all a set up

  • Roll Initiative!

We get back home and get ready to head to the tower district, then to the mountain.

We learn the Emperor collapsed during the council meeting

Caves in the water that people have been back and forth from the Castle jail to the mountain

We check in with Mazie who tells us about two locations to gather informations:

  • The Rat’s Den - Thresh’s hideout

  • The Sapphire Club

  • Out of the Lords who govern the city, the Lord of Magic is occupied by Quintus Moore (yikes). The lord of Faith has been vacant for a couple years.

We head through town to the Rows to follow up with Ovate Lesalia at Valmir’s Mercy

Someone came in looking for Charlotte, Lesalia pointed her out. She later told Charlotte about the man, and she seemed afraid, and insisted on leaving, but also went alone.

Charlotte was becoming more interested in the practical applications of the church's power. A faction of the church who thinks the emperor is doing a bad job of running the empire, and that a more godly leader would be appropriate

We choose to head to the Cliffrat and get info - we hear that Thresh has been kidnapping lots of people lately, and that he runs a fighting ring.

We talk to Thresh, Ashe wins the fight, THresh gives us info - he had a contract to pick up Charlotte, and said she’s on her way to the castle under the accusation of being a cultist

After getting the info, we head back home and connect with Mazie about what she’s found out about the cult

She says cult activity is usually in the Tower District and the Gold District

We talk to Charlotte’s mom!

We all march down to the castle, and go to a guard tower and demand to talk to their manager

After denying having anyone of Charlotte’s description, we decide to plan a heist

During the heist we find out that “processing” means sending the prisoners to Mt. Bardoon

We find Sir Brooklyn Meyers in the cell!

We drag ourselves back to Jocelynn House, with no long rest

Shopping episode! Gettin’ kitted (still in the clockwork)

Back in the Mages guild and we get our golden teleportation ticket

Mazie has set us up with a safe house/apartment in the Capital in preparation for the next quest - some noble whose fiancee went missing

Head to Cear Eldur, in Elduran The Highcourt

Mazie takes us to our rented place - Joslynn House - in the Gold District

We head to the Fairmont residence to speak with Matthias about his missing fiancee

  • been missing for a day, very unlike her

  • she was last seen two nights ago at a soup kitchen in the Rows

  • no ransome, or correspondence

  • father has forbidden him going to the Rows so has not looked for her

  • she was close with an Ovate Lesalia Jebrovich

  • father is ‘okay’ with their engagement

We head to Charlotte’s residence to speak with her family

Charlotte left the Rows early, without the Ovate and that’s when she went missing

Ashe speaks with servant boy - learns Charlotte has gotten deeper into the church recently

  • Charlotte has reverence for the Sword of Aion

We decide to head to a tavern in the Gold District

  • the frog plot hook is here (his name is Sir Brooklyn Meyers)

  • Sir Frog warns us of Thresh and his gang in the Rows

  • Sir Frog is from Valantis

  • we learn the Emperor is really old and ill

Chapter 4: The Time Between

We fight the dragon! 

We win! Teleportation works again!
Lore happened (that I forgot to write down in the moment) - we learned Indigo has a mom and dad and that he carries both their souls in himself TvT

We look into the teleportation quest
Head to the Mage’s Tower to speak with the head wizard for more info - FitzRoy Cogsworth (Gnome)
Disgruntled crowd over lack of teleportation circle working
3 groups have already come in for the quest and turned it down
Plan is to be sent to the Capital City through this portal and get Jabobee back, and destroy whatever is messing with the portal

We teleport

We land in the Clockwork: a plane of stone work and gears with a chorus of clicking and whirring

Giant clock monster with a single eye hangs in the sky with a dull glow

We talk to one of the architects who tells us there’s a dragon we need to fight which is the reason for the teleportation circles not working

Chapter 3: The Curse of Svelgaard

Battle continues!

We defeat Genesis’ dad, but another greater eldritch horror appeared!

We all run!

We get the sense this ancient being wants our looping ability

We head back to the boat - the crew looks like they’ve been having a big battle of their own
Back on land, we rush Isia to the infirmary, and give him some health back
He reveals that Mother Zaezel encouraged him to steal the idol and that he could find Genesis

We discover theorize that Thanlmanier stole the power of Fate from Thalsier the Drowned God (who Zaezel is super devout to)
We head to Zaezel’s and she’s skipped town. We find lots of religious paraphernalia - including lots of rituals to alter someone's fate. We find a shrine to Thalzier in her back room. It gives the ick - stabbed rat in front of the reed figure of Thalzier. 
We get the sense that she was devout, and a zealot, but has deviated from Thalzier’s teaching. Rather than accepting her fate, she was trying to bend fate to suit her. She’s now gone rogue working from forbidden texts.
We head to Stryke manor to catch up with Edith’s family. Surprising tone shift with Edith’s mom, and kind of reconcile? We hand the idol back to Meredith to heal everyone afflicted with the Leviathan’s curse
We button up our quest in Svel, and head home. As soon as we land, a great silver dragon (Thalmanier) bellows for Alabaster, and then lays waste to the whole town.. Including us.
LOOP
We wake up to Mazy telling us there’s a new quest on the task board that wasn't there in the other loops. $3000 gold tho… lots of goodies!!

We talk about the next steps now that we have underwater breathing, and swim speed. Ready to take on the nest!

Fast forward to Svel

We farm out the exploding factory problem to another crew

We approach the Rineguard

Cousin Elrich tells us that he remembers the previous timeloop, and that dad is back to his bed being sick.

(We ponder if Quintus Moor remembers all the info he got from taking apart Indigo…)

We talk to Captain Charlie and he said he and the Rineguard were going to go out and deal with the nest. Invites us to come along (so it was probably my dad’s possession that was sabotaging the fleet)

Genesis reunites with his sister (wholesome) who gives him a necklace that belonged to their mother. It magically tracks their dad

We head out into the ocean and face a bunch of challenges

We jump into the ocean and follow the necklace

The ocean sucks

We come to a big underwater cathedral, and find Isaia inside with the Scion

ROLL INITIATIVE

We wake up back home

Mazy is working on a kill switch

From our trip to Svel we got a Cold Gem, a Tidal Gem, and a Dimensional dye as loot

We bullied a hag

Mazie figured out the kill switch *it’s a bell

We pick up with Veyra telling Ashe about Fritz

Veyra confirms Fritz just got “better” and his personality changed. Meredith has stopped talking to Fritz, Gerrick has stopped talking to Fritz. He wants golems on every corner protecting from the Ocean in place of the reinguard.

Edith follows her dad

Fritz is asking is everything is ready for tonight, Roland reassures that everything is ready - turns one on with magic

Franz isn’t sure if they’re loyal

Fritz only cares about the presentation

Over-hear roland and franz 

Fritz is talking to himself - GASP he’s also a Warlock

He turns at the will of his patron and points him towards Edith

She drops invisibility and Misty Steps down the hall and runs


We all gather at the main ballroom for the demonstration

Golems power up, then malfunction

Fritz it in control, and they erupt into coral golems

Town with golems everywhere is also under attack

This is looking more and more hopeless

Fritz is a Warlock of Leviathan

Genesis keeps hearing “coward”, Edith hears “its mine”

We keep fighting.. The zombies overrun us and we fall one by one.

Genesis hears the voice of his father “I’m sorry I thought I was helping.. Please kill me”

We realize in order to stop the destruction of Svel, we’re going to have to hunt the hive (thanks DM)

Genesis knows his dad IS the nest

WE CYCLE

We wake up at the Inn

We discuss next moves - ball clothes, how to disguise Genesis

We talk about Edith's family and if we should look into the miraculous healing of her father

We ask if Genesis wants to see his sister

Genesis tries the potion and his appearance changes - it takes away his abilities and makes him feel sick :(

We head to Farthwell’s Threads & Fineries for clothes

We run into Edith’s sister who is very excited to see her

We head to the slums to talk to Franky

Guards are posted outside hideout, and Franky’s been apprehended

Ashe spots a spy, and chases down the kid - kid says he was hired by the head of the Halloways to see if the hideout was raided

We head to talk to Charlie

He’s surprised/shocked to see Genesis

He tells us that some of the sailors they suspect of sabotage have been thrown in the brig

That morale is super down, and people have been leaving their duties

That Genesis’ dad didn’t take his leaving well, and ventured out into the frost lands

He was presumed dead, but showed up after a while saying he had a lead on Genesis’ where-abouts

Indigo and Genesis head to the archive to learn about Frost Spawn

Frost spawn are driven by Fate and Destiny

The spawn that’s keeping Genesis alive/itself alive are supposed to fulfil the destiny of creating a nest

Ashe and Edith talk to the prisoners who say right before the sabotage happened, they heard a voice that they swore was their captain compelling them to cut the rigging/damage the sails, etc

One prisoner says they saw a cloaked figure

Some sabotage happened without anyone there

We take an Uber to the party

Early Evening:

Genesis fails at party (we all empathize)

Indigo overhears people blaming Meredith for the idol having gone missing; also notices a very mysterious masked man

Ashe notices Mr and Mrs Stryke greeting ppl, then going their separate ways. Mr leaves with his maid (?) the red dragonborn (omg we walked by Fritz Stryke last night at Zaezels)

Edith also fails at party - finds out no knew info from Ivy

Dinner:

Genesis flexes for the staff - Fritz has been developing golems at the mansion. He is about to announce a partnership between the Strykes and the city to use the ice golem as protection

Indigo - overhears the Halloways can’t produce more potions because they’ve hunted the mammoths to extinction. They’re trying to cover their ass while also implicating the Strykes

Ashe overhears Franz admitting to slipping the Sharks a golem in an effort to sour public opinion on the golems . He’s very concerned about his father’s personality, and wanted to postpone the announcement.

Edith - talks to family. That was FUN. Dad ignores her, Mom insults her, Selene cries, we’re all squirming in our seats.

Evening:

Genesis is checking out the masked figure, goes to put their shoulder, and his hand passes through. The masked figure tells Genesis his name is The Scion

Indigo: watches Ashe to make sure she’s safe

Ashe confronts the dragonborn (Veyra) in the garden. She is a Devout sister of the living sky, and that they are looking for the Breath Returned. She is the spitting image of the Breath Returned - the platinum dragon reborn. She gives Ashe a pendant. Astrid ran from the group in order to save her baby (Ashe). Veyra tells her travel to the mountains and become the breath Returned so Bahaumet can return

Battle continues - time is running out before potion vat explodes

Peasants manage to get out through whole in the window

Indigo and Edith hide in a spell (rope trick) to avoid the explosion

Ashe and Genesis catch up with the bandit that escaped through the window and smack answers out of him

  • Franky is the crime boss (small time gangsters?)

  • paid to steal a golem from the Styrkes and let them loose in the factory

  • says Halloways are behind self sabotage of their own factory

They hand the bandit to the local authority

Indigo and Edith hangout in the extra dimension

See brother, and have a bit of a chat - get invited to a party

Frans was concerned about the Halloways knowing about the golems

He seemed apprehensive

We go find former priestess in the slums

  • has a make-shift temple to all gods in her home

  • people coming to see her

  • red dragonborn leaves

We greet mother Zaezel:

She clocks Genesis, and the frost spawn that is corrupting him

She tells Genesis that he died in the ocean and that the spawn is keeping him alive, and also wanted to run

She tells me I'm cursed with more of a contract - I feign ignorance (lol)

She tells Ashe that her curse is more of a prophecy, and should consult her home and ancestors for answers

She tells indigo that he is no different than a human. He is a being of mapping memory to matter

She tells all of us that We are unlikely to fulfill any of our prophecy because we have been set in limbo

We're remembering our past loops because indigo is mapping memory to matter

Ashe finds a note that was slipped into her pocket telling her to go to the garden during the Stryke Ball and to come alone

We leave the church

Pax Vinum Tavern

  • massive tree in middle of the tavern (white bark with pale violet leaves)

  • patrons in the tavern have bits of curses over them - changing skin, gills, scales, barnacles, etc

  • Large Orc lady owns place - Odara

  • Halfling bartender -

  • Trellin Stryke - Edith's cousin. Hoitytoity (uncle from Ankerus's son)

  • Cheyenne Halloway lady greasy saleswoman - runs market

  • Parko Flynn - Reinguard guy, acquaintance of Genesis

    • says sabotage is happening in the reinguard

    • Genesis' dad has maybe left town, not doing well

    • Genesis' sister got married to Charlie Caradine

  • Steel workers working at an apothecary

  • Ivy comes to see me! Human strawberry blond hair, colourful

    • tells that father might blow up the factory (fraud)

  • We head to the factory and people are running out of it - mostly workers, and a bandit

  • Ice golems are waiting to fight us, along with some bandits

  • workers in the back are near potion

Tyler's spread sheet is incredible and terrifying

Erin continues to struggle with Character sheets

The group catches up as they're making cool stuff. Mazy tells us she experienced dying/going back in time slightly after we did

Indigo tells us about getting taken apart by Olden and the Headmaster - HM wants a warforged army and s part of the Cult of the Undying

We pile a bunch of work on Mazy, side-eye John Jon (who doesn't seem to be aware of the time jump or all the new house additions), and prepare to leave for Svel.

We head to the tavern to talk to Revan and Maddy (dog), and the guy who clocked Genesis before is there again - Agog, dwarf from Svel. Edith remembers too late to warn Genesis, but the dwarf doesn't look like he could place Genesis anyway.

Revan tells us of the missing idol in Svel. People have been getting more and more sick without it, and the reinguard isn't going out to sea (due to internal reasons??)

We hop a carriage to catch a river boat (river boat Carapice) Travel up the river till we hit the ocean and sail to Svel

Wow Svel is sad.. and cold.

Oh God, Mother superior is my mom (Meridith)

Edith hides in Genesis' cloak and they both fall back and pretend to look at a painting while Indigo and Ashe talk to her

  • Meridith says Idol has been missing for a few months - but it wasn't so bad until the Reinguard refused to go out.

  • People go missing, and show up with a scars and curse

  • Small bugs are bringing curse/disease (ew kill it with fire)

  • New Captain Charlie Caradine halted sailing operations within the last couple weeks. Isn't doing as good of a job as the previous captain

  • She suggests maybe the rival family struck a deal with the Reinguard to stop sailing so the Holloolonoln can sell their expensive cures

  • Door was broken/smashed in and idle was taken

Meridith is Mother Superior because she didn't think the former MS was doing a good enough job, and saw a missed opportunity for potential - Zaezel was former MS (was she usurped?)

Group leaves the church and discusses next moves.

Chapter 2: The Beast of Earth

Win a big fight with a book!

Edith getting thrown by a giant crane, fly through the air, and get caught by Genesis

WE WIN - somehow i get the final blow

We gather the pages before Agatha gets the pages

Agatha wants to expose the corruption of the styrkes

  • the strykes almost caused the apocalypse by not revealing the existence of the Behemoth

As we leave, Agatha delivers a warning about Olden being obsessed with Warforges, and advises Indigo not to meet with him

We get out of the Mines, and pay the disgruntled miners to stay out of the mines with the promise of taking out the strykes, and paying their rent/wages for a while

We take the gondola to the Arcanium - floating magic flame casts blue light on to the university

It's fancy

We head to the Blue Flame Tavern to wait for Agatha to set up a meeting with the Dean for us

Dean Quintus Moor - Divination Wiz, and Dean of University (Agatha wants to be the head of evocation)

Round, short, bald, man with a beard

We tell him about the events in the mine

He identifies the spells - One spell steals 'powerful essence' - like stealing the essence of the sun and putting it somewhere else. They work back and forth - three separate spells, reorganized, to cast one big spell.

Godly power!

Spell components: horn of a behemoth, blood of a

Ashe shows him the statue - and he recognizes it and is like "what the hell where did you get this?!" This is a device used by bad men to steals souls

CUT to Indigo

Olden and Moore are picking Indigo apart (horrifying)

  • Indigo is powered by crystals, and one has a message from his father

  • has more little crystals to make more

Moor is a cultist who is trying to create warforges

Moor is happy with Olden's progress, and rewards him with a spell book

Olden is completely taken over by the beast and casts from the book to unleash the Behemoth

We all die - CYCLE

We decide to make our way to Svell to uncover more info about the curse

We continue through the mine and come to another puzzle room

We mage hand our way through the elemental puzzle, and open the security door to continue on to

We catch up with Agatha and she tells us there's something deeper in the mine that is the larger problem. She thinks Stryke's will kill us

We chat a bit more with Mona regarding access to the Arcanium

We leave of the tavern, and head towards the Gondola station to get to the Mines

We ride with a wizard NPC but don't talk to her - she gives us a condescending smirk as she leaves the gondola. Ash gets the sense she was curious about us as first, but it soon gave way to contempt like she's better than us. Little does she know, she's made an enemy of us all.

She's headed to the mines... UGH (Professor Agatha Stagheart)

Miners are angry they can't work, but they still have to pay rent

Corky hands us his ID (crescent moon with a gem)

Going into the mines, lots of carts going to places

Has the sensation of pop rocks (tingles, sparks, colours in our prereferral vision - all from magicite dust)

Edith barges into the staff room just to check it out, and find a rubber duck tied to a chair. Indigo unties the duck and befriends it. It worked for the book, and was over thrown, tied to a chair and left to die, and now wants revenge and is willing to help us.

Break room is a Rest Area - we riffle through stuff - find two pieces of magicite, and a stick of dynamite - which nearly exploded us

We look over the ledge, down the many levels of the mine and see a bunch of animated pick axes, shovels, etc doing the book's bidding and mining for magicite

With the lift broken we walk down to the second level, and come across a couple animated shovels, and miners' clothing. ROLL INITIATIVE

We win!

Ash tells us she feels a pull of something and Edith mentions there are darker presences deep within the minds that can pull at you.

We continue on

Come to another room with scaffolding, and supplies, with a security door. We walk through the room, and to the security door, and use our pass. When we go through, we end up back at the original entrance we came in from.

We beat Tyler's puzzle with the power of friendship

Next room we face ourselves! We win! (edith needed help with defeating herself)

Ankarus (capital city in Gol)

Ship comes along side us and starts a fight

We sail into Ankarus (think Piltover and Zaun) and see how much Edith's family has taken over the north side of the valley. 

We head to the Golden Alembic to meet our contact

We find out the mines have been closed, and suddenly the amount of gold for this job makes sense - the Stryke family commissioned the Wizards to deal with the rogue spell book. 

Mona - Wizards apprentice to Professor Olden (conjuration wizard)


Olden used magicite on personal spell book and spell book went rogue, and found it's way into the mines of magicite where it continues to consume. Seemingly gained sentience and is acting like a defensive animal.


Scrolls:

We wake up all confused… time reset

Mazy is emotionally supportive of our confusion

We agree to keep undead Alabaster, and the curse, close to our chest

We stash the scrolls at our keep, and go back to the Cemetery with the goal of getting something off Brother Duncan

We repair the broken handle of the door that leads to the room Duncan is in.

We investigate the body of Duncan, and Ash picks up the dragon statue.

Ash immediately feels a pull of something inside her towards the dragon

Dragon statue can store something inside it

We investigate tomb further, look inside Alabasters tomb and is just a corpse

We head back to the temple to talk to Father Bellows

On the way, Ash attunes to the dragon statuette and tries it on Indigo

Indigo feels his life force being sucked away, and yells STOP

Dragon statuette apparently syphons your life, and is also tied to the curse! Eek!


Duncan's parents were killed by cult members - Bellows tried to keep him away from cultists

Friends with Revan (informant) - probably knows more about Duncan - We go to talk to him at the Drowned Drunkard (Svel tavern)

Walk in, it's rowdy,as usual. Edith spots a dwarf from Svel eyeing up Genesis. Edith shoots him a look to stop staring. Dwarf looks at Edith, winks, so she gives him the finger. It backfires, but at least the attention is off Genesis

We get drinks, and head downstairs to find Revan

Revan has a DOG (Maddy)!

We discover Revan can detect thoughts. He tells us:

  • Duncan had a run in with a cultist - the cultist was Hera - they had a scuffle, and Duncan took the dragon statuette off Hera.

  • He went back to the temple to find out what Hera was doing


Revan gives us insight:

  • fix the curse (go to Svel)

  • cultists are poking their nose around the temple (Hera was from the Capital)

  • we have scrolls we need to know (The Grand Arcanium - in Gol)

  • recommends getting guild quests to open doors

"How's things in Gol?" - things are getting worse - abominations in the North, Mana fields are erratic, things are getting worse over all

We close the bar, eat a scone, and head to bed


In the morning, we accept a quest that will take us to Gol (a rogue wizard tome)

We pack up, grabbing scrolls, and head to the docks to commandeer a ship - we find The Wave Breaker

We sail for 3 days to Gol

Chapter 1: St. Alabaster's Tomb

Take a breath to gather ourselves after the fight. We still need to locate the scrolls Father Duncan was looking for, and find Hera (dragonborn).

We head back to the main room

Edith fails a wisdom save and picks up evil knife (+1 Dagger)

We fix the lever and open door

In the next room lies Duncan and some dead Kobolds

Ground still feels shaky/there's a hum, and the columns feel very unstable

We head into the room, and check out the door at the end.

We open the door and head into the crypt, revealing a tomb

Edith, like an idiot, shoves thelid of the tomb. It flies off on its own revealing the undead corpse of Alabaster

Alabaster begins to animate, and rise out of the tomb saying "sssooorrryyy"

We all start glowing, and feel a pulse wash over us

The glow spreads to the floor and walls, illuminating script that over and over says "Holy Warrior Forever Bound" ...oh no

Duncan and the kobolds come back to life and attack

We take out the kobolds and priest, and decide to GTFO since they're all coming back to life with the magic script on the wall

Main entrance is blocked!

We break through the blockage leading to a tunnel and run

Genesis Jones collapses the tunnel roof behind us, and we take in the scene

to the left, a large city built into the rock, farmers, and a lake


Ash and Edith go and talk to some farmers (Zurn, Hiss, and Munch)  - find out that the cultists took Hera


We head out and come to a large cave. We see a watch tower on the far end of the cave separated by a chasm 10ft wide. There are 11 Kobolds guarding the place, with Hera tied up at the top.

Genesis comes up with the plan to march Ash in as a prisoner to get closer to Hera

After a brief conversation, they let go of Hera, in exchange for Ash, to wish Genesis attacks Trish (Kobold leader)

We all wake up, back in time, but with the scrolls (Indigo has them) and dagger

Indigo: Warforged - 5’6” bronze and hardened purple glass (humanoid)

  • heading to rented guild hall

  • indigo has stars in eyes, is excited to be Cinderella

  • he tried to pull one over Ash, tries to con an extra 500g. Ash is not having it

We all talk about our days, and pile the gold on the table - Mazey goes to work documenting it

Heading to the Dusk Light Cemetery

Tremmorsense - Edith feels a consistent rumble

Go into tomb, and start poking around.

  • Edith finds a loose brick, and it caved in revealing a 5x5 pit. The tomb is settling as if it were new foundation (which doesn't make sense)

  • Indigo finds a mural that's slightly inconsistent with the tales - he's casting a spell on the dragon

  • GJ peeks into the tomb - sees a corpse with a knife. Medicine check reveals corpse has been disturbed - knife is real necrotic energy

  • Ash finds the mechanism on the stone door has been broken - deliberately? Ash checks out wooden door

  • looks down sees armour and weapons all over the ground, writing on wall (in blood)

  • writing is a magic inscription, glowing slightly - "holy warrior forever bound"


we find blueprints (they found a cave and sealed it up)

we find the handle for the door

2 healing potions

hole in the wall - send in Peaches, find dead Duncan, and 3 dead Kobolds

As we head back to repair the door, the writing on the wall glows, and we get attacked!
